David Parks-Ramage – Senior Minister


David Is the minister of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.  He came to Santa Rosa in 2004.  He is married to Christy, also a minster in the United Church of Christ serving the First Congregational Church of Antioch, CA.  They have two grown children. Their son, Jonathan, working in television production lives in New York City.  Their son, Rebecca, is an artist in San Francisco.

David has been in ministry for 30 years.  Attending seminary at Yale University, David has served churches in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.  On coming out tonull California David served on the staff of the First Congregational Church of Berkeley before coming to Santa Rosa.  Of the Santa Rosa congregation David says, “I have never known such a wonderful community, accepting and loving of all, open to God’s abiding presence.”

David enjoys ministry in Northern California as he speaks of “a pioneer spirit that allows for innovation and renewal within the church.”  Among David’s interests:  renewal of the progressive Christian Church, the interface and dialogue between Christianity and Buddhism (especially Zen), and the use of scripture for spiritual transformation.  David enjoys wide vistas, kind actions and extravagant welcome.  He is committed to the transformation of life in Spirit.  His online blog is “Jesus Points to the Moon” and can be found here: http://jesuspointstothemoon.blogspot.com/
