Worship & Spiritual Life

Sunday,8:30 am
THE GATHERING is a small, informal service that we have each Sunday morning at 8:30 am. At this service we sing and pray and talk about the scripture for the day. We have communion every Sunday at THE GATHERING. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Sunday,10:30 am
This is our CELEBRATION! service. At this service we rejoice in the life that God has given us. We sing, clap our hands, reflect on the scriptures. The music for this service is varied, borrowing from a number of musical traditions from African American Spiritual, to traditional and classical church music. There is something for everyone. We emphasize our experience of God in Christ’s spirit in our services. Life itself is a sacrament, a communion of the human community and God.
Adult Spiritual Formation
OVER COFFEE is a time each Sunday that we set aside for Adult Spiritual Formation. Our minister, David Parks-Ramage, generally leads a book discussion over this time and Rev. Bob Cramer, a retired minister in our congregation convenes a group studying mission in the 21st Century.
encountering your new life: bible study and meditation
Wednesday is “Encountering New Life” Day at First Church. We invite you to encounter your new life, the first day of God’s new creation.
In the Morning: At 10 am we begin “bible study with a difference.” The difference is this: everyone is involved as we read and dive deep into the scripture to discern its relevance for our everyday lives. This is to say — this Bible study can change you life! We start at 10 am.
In the Evening: At 6:30 pm we begin an hour and a half of meditation and conversation. Against the backdrop of a wisdom saying from the world’s great religions, we have a half hour of meditation followed by an inquiry into our lives and scripture.
